Whats up, my name is Demetrius "D.R.P." Pearson for those who don't know me. I'm a recording artist from Chattanooga/Atlanta going on my 8th year of working hard to make it in this industry. I've reached my 21st mixtape this year entitled "Mixxtape 21," which is dedicated to the city of the 423 and everything that goes on within the valley we call home. It is set to be released December 20th in local stores and businesses throughout the Chattanooga area.
As you've noticed over the past few months, the city has become a whirlpool of violence, teen pregnancies and destroyed futures. There are no positive influences or role models within our city that can change the stance that our generation has taken. I feel that we as artists, as a hip hop community, as a single unit moving and working towards the same goals and dreams, have a major responsibility to hold up. The younger generations are growing up conceited, selfish and unaware of good nature towards their fellow man, and I want to get EVERY artist in the together for one cause: To give back. Support in your hometown is key having a successful career and we have major support from the city with only 170,136 people who live here. It's only right we show the love right back to them.
In association with DJ Hi$e Entertainment, Atlas Studios and D.R.P. Muzik will be hosting the C.F.A.C. (Cans For A Cause) Can Drive. The goal is broad, but with over 100 artists in almost every genre from Chattanooga on ReverbNation, we can achieve it. 2,000 cans is the goal we have to reach by December 15th. Tell every artist you know from musicians to graphic designers, models to painters, writer to make up artists that we need everyone's support to make this a successful event and furthermore, show our city that we care about them as much as they care about us. There isn't a minimum of cans you can donate, but we'd like for everyone to try to put up at least ten each (if you're in a group, it's ten cans per person).
I hope that I can have everybody's participation in this event as we show Chattanooga that we as artists, can make a grand difference through unity. All proceeds will go to the Chattanooga Kitchen December 16th, with all artists meeting at the kitchen at the designated time for one epic photograph. Local radio stations and news reporters will be on location reporting the first event that involved every breed of artist Chattanooga has to offer.
