Now I'm not necessarily one for the gaudy jewelry and all the flashy shit, but Dattatray Phuge has truly redefined the word "stunt." With more than $22,700 put into creating the ultimate shirt, he is the first person to own a shirt made entirely of gold. The 40 year old landowner of India said he did it for the international attention he'd gain, and true enough the people (including us) are talking. Some say he did it as another way to attract women, but he's already married and let his wife tell it, he just wants some attention. Damn kid. So yeah, this is where we stand at the moment. Children in India are starving and Phuge has a dope ass shirt that needs 20 bodyguards to protect him when wearing it.
"I own everything right from chains to rings, bracelets, watches in gold. Now, I wanted something that no one would have,” he told Ranka Jewelers of Pune.
It took Ranka Jewelers two weeks, using 15 goldsmiths, working 16 hours a day to make the shirt made of 3.5 kilograms of gold. Phuge thinks the stunt will earn him a place in the Guinness Book or Limca Book of World Records.
